Oh, we all know the story well,
The lovelorn hero on his quest,
Quest for GLORY,
Quest for VICTORY,
Quest to SAVE THE HUMAN RACE!

He’ll work real’ hard,
He’ll slay them dragons
And in the end,
Ever’one will see,
That he’d been right, all along!

And All who’d doubted,
Them that’d smirked,
The ones who’d said mean things,
They’d change their tune,
They’d recognize,
They’d realize,
The error of their ways.

Were once they’d smirked,
They would respect,
Where once they’d scoffed,
They would salute,
Where once they’d mocked,
They now would bow.

And give the Hero his due.

That’s how it was supposed to go.
But it didn’t go how it was supposed to go.
It didn’t go that way at all.
They all kept smirking, scoffing, mocking.

If only one brave princess would come along,
If only one brave princess would see
The truth inside of he,
See the hero,
Struggling to be free.

If only one brave princess would turn this frog into a prince.
Turn this boy into a man.

If only, only, only…
[jumps and waves, trying to get the attention of someone who can’t see him]
“Hey! I’m over here! Here, look at me! I’m right here!”
[clearly he is still invisible]
“Hey! OVER HERE!”
[watching people pass him by]
“Seriously? Seriously??? THAT GUY???
[watching other people being picked around him]
“I only need one! Just one princes!!! Any one will do!”
[receding further and further]
“Isn’t anyone going to notice me?
“Isn’t one of these princesses going to help me?”
“Isn’t anyone ever going to rescue me?
“Aren’t I ever going to be a man?”

“Gud, you’re all so selfish.
I mean, I’m right here, suf fer ing,
and you all have the key to my next level,
and no one will give it to me!
You FUCKING WHORES!
Well you know what?
I’m sick of this shit! I’m done bein’ your fuckin’ whipping boy!
I’m not gonna take it any more!
I’M GOING OUT IN A BLAZE OF GLORY, FUCK ALL YA’LL BITCHES!”
“YAAAAAARRRRRGGGHHHHH!”
[goes down screaming in a blaze of gunfire, shooting, shooting, shooting, the last shot hits him in the head, and he falls down dead]

[punk]
Elliot, O Elliot, O EL LI OT
No one there to catch you when you fell, fell, fell,
You fell through the cracks in the storyline,

Victim of the poison, that said, said, said,
“YOU’RE NOTHIN ‘LESS YOU’VE FUCKED SOME BITCHES.”
“YOU’RE NOTHIN ‘LESS YOU’RE THE ALPHA MALE.”
“YOU’RE NOTHIN’ ‘TILL YOU’VE CONQUERED ALL.”

[slam]
And Elliot is right: the system is rigged.
‘Twas never possible
For everyone to conquer all.
‘Cause for one to conquer,
someone else must fall.

And there is no narrative for the fallen.
They just disappear.
They just… Become nothing.

Well, Elliot refused to be nothing.

[punk]
Oh Elliot, O Elliot, O Elliot, Oh EL LI OT
No one there to catch you when you fell, fell, fell,
You fell through the cracks of the storyline.
No one ever taught you what to do with REJECTION.
Now you’re DEAD DEAD DEAD,
‘Long with all them people who you killed.
Murdered by your EGO, and a broken fairy tale.

[slam]
‘Cause no one ever told you, that you are not your EGO.

And no one ever taught you, to seek that love and admiration, inside your own dear soul.

And no one ever taught you, what to do with REJECTION.

And no one ever taught you, what to do when all them ladies, turn our to be real people, with EGOs of their own.

No one ever taught you that we are made of our relationships.

And that the thing that matters most; the thing that makes a man a MAN,

Is not the sex that he may have, but the trust his friends may feel inside.

The love and trust they feel for him and the joy of sharing life together.

[punk]
Oh Elliot, O Elliot, Oh EL LI OT
No one there to catch you when you fell, fell, fell,
You fell through the cracks of the storyline.
No one ever taught you what to do with REJECTION.
‘Now you’re DEAD DEAD DEAD,
‘Long with all them people who you killed.
Murdered by your EGO and a broken fairy tale

[slam]
Devil never came to Elliot,
Never sat him down and made him see,
That those shadows were a part of him.
Never sat him down to let him know
that the monster, was inside of him.

But maybe maybe maybe,
Maybe you, dear Elliot,
are the teacher we all need.

You’re the Devil,
here to show the rest of us,
That the storyline is broken and the monster is in inside of US.

And its not just lurking in the shadows,
Doesn’t keep to hidden chat-rooms with nasty dating tricks.
It’s everywhere, in every story, every movie, every song.

The hero gets the glory, gets the goods, gets the girl.
Sometimes it seems that this is the only storyline we know.

But here,
Right here,
Oh, Elliot has shown us,
The ugly truth behind our masks:
Nasty consequences of that fantasy.

And maybe,
Just maybe,
We might be ready for some learnin’.

Learnin’ that the storyline of conquerors and conquered,
Of Heroes and of Villains,
And of Winners and the Losers,

This storyline is BROKEN.
It’s broken and it’s
killing us.
No really, fucking KILLING US.
We need new stories, myths and fantasies.

Not this winner-loser bullshit;
One where each and every one of us is a member of our community,
Myths where each and every one of us is made-up of our relations.
and Tales where each and every one of us is the hero and the villain of our own healing journey.

‘Cause Elliot’s not the monster,
He’s just the symptom of the sickness.
But if we let it teach us,
If we let the symptoms of our sickness be the guide for how to heal,
Then those deaths won’t be in vain.
